About
Vivien Blackburn
BA Hons Fine Art, de Montfort University also studied at Winchester School of Art I'm an English artist with a particular love of the landscape, with its ever changing light, mood and colours through time, weather and seasons. The light on the landscape is part of my earliest memories. Then the textures - tangled undergrowth, rocks, rough bark or the smooth sheen and translucency of still water versus the waves crashing violently on the rocks in Cornwall. I lived in Cornwall when I was young and it still is a very special place to me. I was lucky to live in some special places growing up. As well as Cornwall I lived on the Moray Firth in the north of Scotland, Malta and Gibraltar. All with a very different light and ambience. I work plein air, sometimes doing complete paintings, at other times filling sketchbooks to work from in the studio, trying to catch the colours and light, weather, mood and season in a way that my camera can't. Elected Member of: The Leicester Society of Artists Leicester Sketch Club The Association of Leicestershire Artists Leicestershire Pastel Society I show at various galleries throughout the year. Work in private collections and commissions , including Derwent, featuring on their website (inktense page). |
